Project Description

The new 50,000 square foot Illinois State Police Forensic Lab will house approximately 50 staff, and will feature laboratories, receiving areas, handling and cataloging, evidence receipt and storage. Main laboratory functions include: Drug Chemistry, Trace Chemistry, Instrument Room, Forensic Biology, and Latent Prints. In addition the facility includes firearms storage, Shooting Range, and a Scope Room. The facility incorporates management, staff, and clerical office, as well as support functions. The design calls for on-site and in-building security systems including closed circuit TV and card key systems. This facility is being designed and planned to meet current state-of-the-art law enforcement forensic design criteria, including CODIS, NIBIN, and compliance with ASCLD/LAB standards.
